(January 22 – 09:45 ET) – Royal Bank of Canada has promoted Craig Wright to chief economist, replacing John McCallum, who won a seat for the Liberal Party in the recent federal election.
Royal says that as chief economist Wright is responsible for providing economic analysis and commentary within the bank as well as to clients, media and other members of the public.
Wright was most recently vice president and deputy chief economist of the bank, where he has been a member of the economics team since 1994. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University, earned in 1985, and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1987.
