The National Association of Securities Dealers is tapping RBC Financial’s latest brokerage acquisition for a new top lawmaker.
The NASD announced that it has hired Marc Menchel as senior vice president and general counsel for NASD Regulation. He will be responsible for rule writing and interpretation, advising senior management, and adjudicatory matters. Menchel comes from RBC’s Tucker Anthony Inc., where he served as the director and corporate secretary, executive vice president and general counsel.
“Marc is a perfect match for this key regulatory position and an excellent addition to our management team,” said Mary Schapiro, president of NASDR. “Marc’s extensive experience in the securities industry will be a critical asset in dealing with the complex issues that face us and the industry. His counsel will help guide the NASD’s regulatory direction.”
Before joining the NASD, Menchel spent 20 years in the securities industry in varying supervisory and compliance positions.
