RBC Financial Group is the most admired and respected corporation in Canada as selected by Canadian CEOs. That’s according to the eighth Annual Canada’s Most Respected Corporations Survey, sponsored by KPMG and conducted by
Ipsos-Reid.
This year’s annual survey measured nine specific categories. CEOs indicated the corporations they thought were the most admired and respected in each category. RBC dominated the landscape in virtually every category, taking six of the nine with top marks. This represents a return of RBC to the top, after placing second to Bombardier
last year.
The five most admired and respected Canadian corporations as ranked by Canadian CEOs were RBC Financial Group (Royal Bank), Bombardier Inc., BCE Inc. (Bell Canada Enterprises), Magna International Inc. and Loblaw Companies Limited
RBC Financial Group (Royal Bank) was ranked number one in the following categories: long term investment, human resource management, financial performance, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and top-of-mind assessments
Research In Motion Limited was voted number one for innovation and product/service development. Bombardier Inc. was perceived by Canadian CEOs as producing the highest quality products and services. Wal-Mart Canada Inc. ranked number one among Canadian corporations for customer service.
Honesty, integrity, trustworthiness and credibility were identified by 53% of CEOs as being the qualities that “first come to mind” when they hear that a company or CEO is respected. Other attributes that came to mind were successful, financial success, profitable, good growth (14%) and leadership (12%).
“KPMG considers this survey a valuable tool for Canadians to measure and judge Canadian CEOs and corporations,” said KPMG managing partner of marketing, Bill Dillabough. “We believe hearing CEOs’ views on what practices warrant respect and admiration will lead to new standards for today’s corporate practices.”
