The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index has named RBC Financial Group as one of the world’s best sustainability-driven companies for the second year in a row. RBC is currently the only Canadian financial institution on the list.
The companies listed on the DJSI World are chosen from 2,500 of the largest capitalized companies in the Dow Jones Global Index.
Those included are recognized as being the top 10% in corporate sustainability, meaning these organizations lead their industries in best practices and superior environmental, social and economic performance.
RBC’s businesses are required to adhere to environmental policies regarding everything from responsible lending, to choosing suppliers and recycling.
RBC Financial Group was also the first North American company to sign the United Nations Environmental Programme’s Statement by Financial Institutions on the Environment and Sustainable Development.
“Our commitments to the environment and communities are an integral part of our daily operations and business initiatives and are reflected in the efforts of our employees who promote and practice these commitments daily,” said Sandra Odendahl, senior manager, environmental risk management. “We are pleased to be listed alongside so many other world-class organizations.”
