Toronto-based impact investing firm Purpose Capital Inc. on Wednesday announced that it is heading up the Canadian arm Nexus, a network for social investing and problem-solving.

Purpose Capital’s co-founder Assaf Weisz will lead Nexus Canada as national director. The group will host an annual summit and a series of smaller, local meetings throughout the year; as well as forming working groups to examine specific issues.

Launched in 2011, Nexus describes itself as a “global movement of 3,000+ next generation wealth holders, social entrepreneurs, and impact investors from over 70 countries uniting to catalyze new leadership and accelerate solutions to global problems.”

In announcing its role as host of Nexus Canada, Purpose Capital said, “In the course of our work, we have seen, in no uncertain terms, how next-gens are increasingly earnest and active as social entrepreneurs, impact investors, philanthropists, and champions for important changes to these spaces. That’s why Nexus is so important: it convenes next-gens in a community of peers on similar journeys, connects them to thought leaders, and provides them with the space to consider how to begin or amplify their initiatives.”
