An advocacy group for investors, the Small Investor Protection Association, has received funding from the OSC Investor e-education Fund to re-design its Web site.

The funds come from penalties collected by the Ontario Securities Commission for securities law infractions. The Web site features a Brokers Hall of Shame including a list of brokers who have been disciplined for breaching the rules, or have been brought to court.

It includes an “Investors’ Corner” with Investor Alerts, information on scams and frauds, and links to stock exchanges and other investor information sites. It also features sections on “Regulation” and “Complaints” as well as a “SIPA library” section. A new site search engine is available, too.

SIPA was founded in June 1998 in Markham, Ont, and it now boasts over 370 members in nine Canadian provinces. It is actively seeking better means of resolving investors disputes.
