Police in Nova Scotia say that they have charged a man in an alleged multi-million dollar fraud, following a 16-month investigation.

Nova Scotia RCMP report that in June 2012 they received a complaint of a possible fraud against the Royal Bank of Canada by two Nova Scotia companies: Advanced Commission Company of Canada and Capstan Management Ltd.

“The RCMP Financial Crime Team began an investigation and determined both companies, owned and operated by Gregory Paul Burden, defrauded the Royal Bank of Canada over a period of six years by submitting fraudulent financial statements,” it says.

Burden is facing several charges, including three counts of fraud over $5,000 and 12 counts of uttering forged documents. The allegations against him have not been proven. He is set to appear in provincial court on December 16.
