ABN AMRO Asset Management Canada Ltd. today announced its official name change to Fortis Investment Management Canada Ltd., effective August 29.

Fortis Investments acquired ABN AMRO Asset Management in April 2008.

Christine Girvan will remain CEO for the Canadian operation, and has also been appointed head of sales for North America. Girvan continues to be responsible for business development, client servicing and overall business strategy for Canada and will now oversee business development and client servicing for the United States.

“All investment teams of both pre-merger companies were put through a stringent selection process to ensure the strongest investment teams are in place,” Fortis said in a release.

Fortis Investment Management Canada Ltd. is based in Toronto.
