Réal Raymond has been
appointed President, Personal and
Commercial Bank of National Bank
of Canada and made a member of the
Board of Directors. The announcement
was made today by André
Bérard, Chairman of the
Board and Chief Executive Officer,
following a meeting of the Bank’s
Board of Directors. Mr. Raymond,
who is 49 years old, has been with
the Bank since 1970.
Most recently, he held the
position of Senior Executive Vice-
President, in which capacity he
co-headed Corporate Financing at
National Bank Financial.
Mr. Raymond held a number of
positions within the branch network
prior to being appointed Senior
Manager – Corporate Banking in
1987. In 1989, he became
Vice-President – Corporate
Banking, Eastern Canada and was
promoted, two years later, to
Senior Vice-President – Real
Estate and Corporate Banking for
all of Canada.
From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Raymond
held the position of Senior
Vice-President – Treasury and
Financial Markets. In 1997, Mr.
Raymond moved over to
Lévesque Beaubien
Geoffrion, a National Bank
subsidiary, where he served as
Senior Executive Vice-President –
Corporate Financing. Following the
creation of National Bank
Financial, after the merger of
First Marathon with
Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion,
Mr. Raymond co-headed its Corporate
Financing operations.
Mr. Raymond has an MBA from the
Université du Québec
à Montréal and a
diploma from the Institute of
Canadian Bankers. He sits on the
board of National Bank Financial,
the Fondation de l’UQAM and St.
Mary’s Hospital Foundation, where
he serves as treasurer. Mr.Raymond
is also President of the Quebec
Association of MBAs and the
Centre Immaculée Conception
as well as a member of the Cercle
du tourisme du Québec.
