(June 19 – 17:00 ET) – Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. announced today that Stephen S. Crawford has been named to succeed John H. Schaefer as the firm’s chief strategic and administrative officer. Crawford is currently a managing director of the firm’s investment banking fivision. Schaefer, as announced earlier, will become president and COO of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter’s private client group.
Crawford, 36, will report to MSDW chairman and CEO Philip J. Purcell. Crawford joined Morgan Stanley & Co. in 1986, and became a managing director in 1998.
“Steve has broad experience in the financial services industry and has advised a large number of our major clients on strategic and financing matters. He has also worked extensively with MSDW management to formulate and execute our own business strategy. This new role will enable Steve to focus his talent on continuing to help develop our business,” said Purcell in a press release.
