(April 6 – 11:55 ET) – The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association has enhanced the industry’s Consumer Assistance Centre, a national consumer help service, through the establishment of a seven-person advisory board under the chairmanship of Gilles Loiselle, former federal Minister of Finance.
Other members of the Advisory Board include:
>Lea Algar, former Ontario Insurance Ombudsman;
>Bernard Bonin, former senior deputy governor of the Bank of Canada;
>Sally Hall, former president of the Consumers’ Association of Canada;
>Madeleine Plamondon, president and director, Service d’aide aux consommateurs de Shawinigan;
>Yves Rabeau, professor of Economics, Université du Québec à Montréal
>Reginald Richard, former superintendent of insurance for New
Brunswick.
The CAC Advisory Board will provide guidance on the CAC’s overall priorities, directions, service mix and performance with a view to maximizing its usefulness to consumers.
Improving consumers’ access to information, services and recourse will be key to many of the changes that lie ahead in the financial services sector.
