(November 1 – 09:50 ET) – Laurentian Bank of Canada says it has completed its purchase of 43 branches of Scotiabank in Quebec. According to the bank, all necessary regulatory approvals having been obtained.
The parties completed the transaction in accordance with the agreement signed on September 22. At the signing, president and CEO of Laurentian Bank, Henri-Paul Rousseau, said the transaction would allow the bank to become a Quebec leader in services to retail customers.
The bank said the majority of employees currently working in the acquired branches would be offered employment with Laurentian.
