(August 8 – 14:45 ET) – DALBAR, Inc. has released its second quarter ratings of top insurance company Web sites. Top honors for financial professional sites go to American Skandia and John Hancock. The companies tied for first place.

Big moves in professional rankings were made by SAFECO, Aetna, Allmerica and Fortis. SAFECO moved from 17 up to 7 by adding information of sales ideas. Aetna moved from 9 to 3 by revamping the product information offered on its Web site.

Sun Life of Canada landed the number 20 spot. It was not ranked during the previous quarter.

DALBAR’s president, Louis S. Harvey noted that “The insurers have begun to recognize the power of the Web in building loyalty of producers and are putting their money on the line to win that loyalty. While the leaders already have a competitive advantage, the last quarter has shown that its not too late to catch up”.

Each quarter DALBAR selects the top 25 insurance Web sites from among all insurance Web sites. Sites are selected in two categories: financial professionals and consumers.
