Each week, we summarize notable moves across the financial industry.

  • Kevin McAdams, Brad Thompson, Greg Glista, Patrick Keyser and their team have joined IG Private Wealth Management, moving from Manulife Wealth. McAdams had been with Manulife for 16 years, and together, the team of industry veterans has more than 200 years of combined experience in financial services. Manulife lost an even larger team to Harbourfront Wealth Management in July.
  • Marie-Annick Bonneau has been named executive vice-president and chief risk officer with iA Financial Group, effective Oct. 1. Bonneau will succeed Philippe Sarfati, who joined iA in 2021 and is now retiring. He will stay on as a strategic advisor until the end of the year. Bonneau joined the firm’s legal department in 1995, and has held VP-level roles in investor relations, integrated risk management and more since 2022.
  • John Melvin has been named chief investment officer at Great-West Lifeco, effective Oct. 1. Melvin has more than three decades of investment experience, with a focus on insurance asset management. He’s currently CIO at Sammons Financial Group Companies and was previously a managing director at Hartford Investment Management, Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Asset Management.
  • Mary Falconer has joined Axis Insurance as chief financial officer. She brings more than three decades of experience to the role, including as senior vice-president finance and chief accountant with Canadian Western Bank and CFO of Prospera Credit Union.
  • Aayaz Pira has been appointed chief information officer with Co-operators. Pira was most recently president and CEO of Canadian Tire Bank and president of Canadian Tire Financial Services. Before that, he spent seven years with CIBC, including as senior vice-president of digital banking and enterprise innovation.
  • Jane Chan has been named vice-president, capital and corporate development at Heartwood Trust. Chan held previous senior roles in investor relations and communication at TAS Impact, Scotiabank and DRI Capital and brings more than 15 years of experience in finance and strategic communications.
  • Tricia Rothschild has been elected to serve as vice-chair on the CFA Institute’s board of governors. She’s sat on the board since 2019, and previously served as vice-chair in 2022 and 2023. Kyung wook Hur, a public policy and finance expert, has also joined the board. He has previously served as first vice-minister of strategy and finance for the Republic of Korea, ambassador to the OECD, and hasheld senior roles at the IMF and World Bank.
