(June 2 – 10:25 ET) – Jacques Girard, chairman of the board of the International Financial Center, today announced the appointment of Andree Corriveau as president and CEO of IFC-Montreal.

“The appointment of Corriveau at the head of IFC is perfectly in line with the board’s new strategy aimed at intensifying efforts to attract major financial centers to Montreal. The great metropolitan area is now enjoying an extremely favourable period and we intend to take advantage of this momentum, basically by exploiting to their fullest the benefits of NASDAQ’s arrival,” commented Girard.

Girard emphasized Ms. Corriveau’s great communications skills, her extensive knowledge of public administration processes and her dynamism. He also wished to thank France Beaudoin, one of the first collaborators of IFC-Montreal.

New appointments to the IFC-Montreal board of directors were also announced: Jean Fortier, City of Montreal’s executive committee chairman, Luc Bertrand, president of the Montreal Stock Exchange, Anton Korner, representing Bank of Bavaria, and Bruno Riverin, president and CEO of Investissement Desjardins.

“More than ever, our organization can count on strong competitive arguments, on support and expertise from the Quebec Minister of Finance, and on effective means to attract the most prestigious financial institutions,” said Girard.
