(March 13 – 11:15 ET) – The Investment Dealers Association has released a schedule for its June 13 to 15 Annual Meeting and Conference to be held at the Westin Hotel in Toronto.
On the first day the IDA Board of Directors and National Advisory Committee meets followed by a new feature, conference delegates will be invited into the homes of industry players for receptions and private dinners.
The conference officially opens on the 14th with opening speeches from IDA chair Chuck Winograd of RBC Dominion Securities and IDA CEO and President Joe Oliver. Ian Russell, Senior Vice President, Capital Markets, will reprise his role as industry watcher with an overview industry performance and trends.
This we be followed by a couple of morning sessions. “Building a Successful Business in the midst of Globalization, Accelerating Technological Change and Convergence” and “The Challenges of Regulating in the midst of Globalization, Technological Change and Convergence”
Lunch will be followed by further sessions on technology and the securities industry with sessions titled: “Looking Ahead: the Internet and the Securities Business”, “The Electronic Disintermediation of the Retail Financial Business”, and “The Transformation of the Investment Management Business”. These sessions will be followed by the annual meeting and a black tie dinner honouring the IDA’s past chairs and announcing the winner of the distinction award.
The conference resumes the next morning with a presentation “Media Matters” followed by “The Leaders Panel: Surviving and Thriving in the New Millenium” and “The Impact of New Technologies on the Structure of Equity Markets”. The regional dealers forum will be held in the afternoon.
