(May 1 – 11:30 ET) – The Investment Dealers Association has nailed down most of the speakers for its annual conference in June.

The conference program begins Wednesday, June 14 with a panel, “Responding to the Demands of the New Retail Investor,” featuring Earl Bederman, president of Toronto-based research house Investor Economics, Gary Reamey, president of Edward Jones Canada and John See, president and CEO of TD Waterhouse Investor Services (Canada) Inc.

The luncheon will feature the return of Kevin Kelly, president, Fidelity Institutional and Investor Services Group, with “The Importance of Branding, Product Line and Technology in Building a Global Retail Franchise”.

In the afternoon attendees will hear Steven Wallman, founder, chair and CEO of FOLIO (fn) Inc. on “The Challenges of Regulating in the Midst of Globalization, Technological Change and Convergence” followed by as yet unnamed senior executive from Instinet Inc. on “The Evolving Structure of U.S. Equity Markets”. This is followed by the IDA’s annual meeting and a black tie gala, which typically includes the IDA Distinction Award Winner.

The following day leads off with “Brand Quality in the Internet Age”, featuring Paul Ingrassia, president Dow Jones Newswires. Another panel, titled “Surviving and Thriving in the New Millennium,” hosted by David Wilson, chairman and CEO of Scotia Capital Inc., Stanley Hartt, chairman Salomon Smith Barney Canada Inc., Ken Shields, chair and CEO of Goepel McDermid Inc.; and Gene McBurney, chair of Griffiths, McBurney. And a panel of Keith Ambachtsheer, K.P.A. Advisory Services and Charles Ellis, managing partner Greenwich Associates, on “The Transformation of the Investment Management Business”.

Lunch will feature “Bricks and Clicks to Clicks and Mortar: the Schwab Story” by John Coghlan, vice-chair Schwab USA. The afternoon of the second day is dedicated to the Regional Dealers Forum.
