The Alberta District Council of the Investment Dealers Association has imposed discipline penalties on Bryan Cruickshank, at the relevant time a registered rep with ScotiaMcLeod Inc. and Wolverton Securities Ltd.
By written decision dated March 8, 2002, the Alberta District Council found that Cruickshank had failed to ensure that a recommendation made for a client’s account was appropriate for the client and in keeping with his investment objectives. The panel also found that there was insufficient evidence to support a charge of conduct unbecoming a registered representative.
Cruickshank was ordered to disgorge $6,000 in commissions he earned. As well, the panel ordered that he be subject to strict supervision for a period of six months upon re-entry to the industry. Cruickshank was also ordered to pay $1,000 towards the IDA’s costs of the investigation. Cruickshank is not currently registered with any member of the IDA.
