As expected, the Investment Dealers Association of Canada today the appointment of Aleksandrar Popovic as vice president enforcement, effective July 30. Popovic will report to Paul Bourque, senior vice president, member regulation.

Popovic brings an impressive background in public administration, law and securities issues to his new role at the IDA. During his career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Popovic was the senior ranking investigator for the RCMP in Ontario with responsibility for investigations relating to the capital markets and commercial crime matters.

As the Officer in Charge, Commercial Crime Section Toronto, he was responsible for the conduct and management of major national and international investigations and served as the RCMP representative on the Securities Enforcement Resources Committee. A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, with an L.L.B and an L.L.M. in Securities Law, Popovic is a Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
