Hi-Alta Capital Inc. has added six agencies in Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. to its Western Insurance Network, bringing the total number of communities in which it operates to 44.

In Saskatchewan, the company acquired the insurance, investment and agency banking operations of Prairie West Financial Group, with offices in Swift Current, Shaunavon, Gull Lake and Ponteix.

Prairie West’s management team – Norm Tonnies, Omer Houde and Mike Vallee- will join the Hi-Alta network, together with employees from Prairie West’s offices. “Prairie West demonstrates the enormous potential of the concept we’re pursuing, by successfully cross-selling insurance, investments and agency
banking products” says Scott Tannas, President of Hi-Alta.

The Prairie West operations add significant investment and agency banking business, lifting Hi-Alta’s total assets under administration over the $200 million mark.

To serve the Medicine Hat market in southeastern Alberta, Hi-Alta has opened Gateway Agencies under the leadership of Mel Snyder, a well-known local insurance executive.

And in the Shuswap region of British Columbia, Hi-Alta has reached an agreement to acquire Chase Canada Insurance Brokers Ltd. Under the terms of the deal, existing staff will be retained, to ensure smooth operations and continuing customer relationships.
