TD Bank Financial Group today announced a new scholarship program with Calgary’s Bow Valley College. The funds will assist students who enroll in the college’s new Financial Services Certificate or Accounting and Financial Management Certificate.
“TD believes that investing in education for Canadian youth is one of the best ways to make a difference and help our communities remain vibrant,” said Frank McKenna, deputy chairman, TD Bank. “Supporting students is a great way to ensure that the best and brightest have the resources to complete their studies and start their careers.”
Bow Valley College has developed several new programs in the past two years to respond directly to the needs of Calgary’s employers. The Financial Services Certificate, which launches in fall 2007 and the Accounting and Financial Management Certificate, starting January 2007 are two programs that are helping to supply trained graduates to the Calgary market.
Graduating students from these programs will be trained to work in a variety of financial services areas including as customer service representatives, mortgage specialists, and personal banking associates or in clerical and administrative positions.
Bow Valley College is a leader in health and business career training, adult upgrading and English as a Second Language. Each year, more than 11,000 students attend Bow Valley College at eight locations in Calgary and at more than 20 communities in southern Alberta.
