French bank BNP Paribas has joined the first global ATM alliance established to create innovative financial services for member banks’ customers who travel internationally.
BNP Paribas is joining the five founding banks of the alliance – Scotiabank, Bank of America, Barclays, Westpac and Deutsche Bank/Deutsche Bank 24 – in waiving international access fees for more than 40 million customers when using member banks’ ATMs at around 23,000 cash machines on three continents.
“We are pleased to welcome BNP Paribas to the Alliance,” says Bob Grant, Senior Vice-President, Business to Consumer Products and Services, Scotiabank. “This is great news for our customers who travel to France for vacation and business, offering them more choice and convenience.”
Beginning August 1st, Scotiabank customers will be able to withdraw cash without being charged access fees by either the Bank or other Alliance member banks from ATMs in France, Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Customers of the other Alliance member banks will, in turn, be able to withdraw cash without access fees from Scotiabank ATMs throughout Canada.
