The Toronto-based Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) announced on Tuesday the honourees for its President’s List, recognizing candidates with the highest marks in Financial Planning Examination Level 2 (FPE2).

The top candidates for the June 2014 sitting were:
• Greg Baldwin – Toronto (first place)
• Jackson (Junqiang) Zhao – Toronto (tied for second place)
• Gillian Purvis – Winnipeg (tied for second place)

Members of the President’s List were recognized from a total of 295 candidates who wrote the second and final examination on the path to CFP certification. The overall pass rate for the exam was 61%. Of the candidates, 203 were first-time writers (71% pass rate), while 92 were repeating the examination (37% pass rate).

FPE1 (now known as the FPSC Level 1 Examination in Financial Planning), the first examination on the path to CFP certification, was written by 556 candidates in June. The overall pass rate was 73%. Of the candidates, 463 were first-time writers (76% pass rate) while 93 were repeating the examination (57% pass rate).

The examinations, which are offered twice a year, took place in 45 testing centres across the country. The next sitting of the examinations will take place on November 28, 2014.
