(February 11 – 11:55 ET) – An early morning bombing in New York’s financial district has left police baffled. This morning, at 4:40 ET, a device described by police as an “improvised” explosive went off, blowing out windows at both 75 Wall St. and the building across the road. One passerby was slightly injured, treated at a local hospital and released.

The device was set outside a Barclay’s Bank office which houses offices for J.P. Morgan, Dresdner Bank and Thomson Financial. Barclay’s itself doesn’t have any offices in the building. Dresdner and J.P. Morgan employees were evacuated and the bomb squad and sniffer dogs were brought in to investigate. No other explosives were found and the buildings involved have reopened.

Police have not said if the action was related to the financial firms housed at the location. Dresdner’s trading floor is located at the site. Initially employees were sent to other locations, but they are now being allowed back in the building with police escorts. Police are seeking a man seen in the area for questioning.
