E-L Financial Corp. says net earnings in the first quarter ended March 31 increased to $24.0 million ($6.24 per share) vs $16.9 million ($4.41), a jump of 42%.
The Toronto-based holding company said that on an operating basis, earnings were up 32% to $14.7 million ($3.82 per share).
Total revenue came in at $458.3 million vs $390.2 million, a gain of 17.5% as investments returns and general and life insurance premiums all showed gains.
