(January 17 – 18:10 ET) – As of January 22, clients of National Bank Discount Brokerage Inc will be able to trade stocks more quickly over the Web.

Following a decision by the Canadian Securities Administrators to lift the “Know Your Client” rule, National Bank has substantially restructured its discount brokerage services.

Clients will now have the choice between “Express” and “Direct” modes. Clients wanting more control over their investment portfolio and faster trade processing can choose the Express mode option. Express mode is available to clients who trade using the Web or by cellular phone.

Clients wishing to keep their current trading mode and have direct access to their portfolio, while retaining the services of an investment specialist, will be able to do so by choosing the Direct option.

According to National Bank Discount Brokerage President Yves Breton, the ever-growing use of the Web by Quebec investors clearly contributes to increasing their autonomy level, as he states: “We already know that Quebecers have a growing interest in finance, and thanks to the ease at which they have access to information over the Web, many want to take matters into their own hands”.
