(August 11 – 10:20 ET) – Online broker Digital Gem Corp. is announcing a management shuffle and that it’s seeking a strategic partner.

Chairman and chief executive Nadir Desai will turn over the CEO role to Digital Gem’s founder and president, Vic Alboini. Desai was brought in from PSINet to manage DigiGem’s technological growth. The company is now being returned to former investment banker Alboini’s control to build that side of the business.

“With [our] technology objectives completed, it is timely to bring in an experienced investment banker who embraces the role technology is playing in the investment industry,” said Desai. “Vic’s experience as a mergers and acquisitions specialist, as well as his demonstrated team building skills at Northern Securities, will serve Digital Gem well in the implementation of the appropriate strategic partnership as well as other merger and acquisition transactions in the marketplace.”

Desai will remain as chairman. Wes Roitman, who came over to DigiGem with Desai, becomes Digital Gem’s chief Web architect, resigning as executive vice president and chief operating officer, and surrendering his director’s duties.

Donald Robson has been appointed senior vice president and CFO, effective August 14. Robson comes from a similar role with Getchell Gold Corp. AnneMarie Ryan is becoming senior vice president, online businesses, from her role as vice president, online trading. Robert Zuk becomes vice president, software development.
