Deutsche Bank will donate tomorrow’s equity trading commissions to the New York Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund.

The bank says that the move is intended to honor the New York firemen and police officers who died in the Sept. 11 attack. This contribution adds to the US$4 million already earmarked by Deutsche Bank for various relief organizations including the American Red Cross. The bank has also pledged to match an additional US$500,000 in gifts from its employees.

The donation of its net agency commissions from U.S. equity trading will be organized through Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, which represents Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown and Deutsche Bank Securities Ltd. (Canada).

“We have lost friends and loved ones as part of this tragedy,” says Kevin Parker, Deutsche Bank’s head of global equities. “But the bravery and selflessness shown by our police and fire rescue departments has been inspirational to all of us. We hope our clients will join our efforts on Tuesday to help the families of those who sacrificed themselves for our safety.”

The New York Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund is a charity organization that assists the families of NYPD and FDNY officers.
