CSI Global Education Inc. says that ONCAP II, L.P., a private-equity fund managed by ONCAP Management Partners, L.P. has partnered with CSI’s senior management team to acquire CSI from the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.

A special meeting of the IDA board of directors approved the sale, which closed Friday.

CSI, the IDA and ONCAP say they remain committed to providing students, IDA members and the financial services industry with the same high quality of education.

“We are delighted to partner with ONCAP,” says Roberta Wilton, president and CEO of CSI. “It will allow us to strengthen our leadership in financial services education and we are confident that our students and the industry will benefit from this relationship.”

“ONCAP’s capital investment will support CSI’s established content development infrastructure and expertise to deliver additional products within its current markets as well as expand into contiguous markets,” says Jeremy Thompson, ONCAP partner.

The change in ownership is consistent with the earlier decision by the IDA to move CSI from the IDA to a financially independent organization. Going forward, the IDA and CSI say they are dedicated to continuing a strong relationship.

CSI has committed to maintain quality and service standards in the delivery of courses to IDA Member firms. “An integral part of our investor protection mandate as a self-regulatory organization is to set high proficiency standards for market participants. The sale will preserve and enhance CSI Global’s ability as an educational provider to meet those standards”, says IDA president and CEO Joe Oliver.

CSI provides interactive investment learning and is endorsed by the IDA, Canada’s stock exchanges and provincial commissions.

ONCAP is a private-equity firm focused on building value with North American small and mid-sized companies in partnership with their management teams. ONCAP is an affiliate of Onex Corp.
