(September 20 – 16:05 ET) – It will be business as usual at credit unions on January 1, 2000, according to Bill Knight, CEO and President of Credit Union Central of Canada. “We have worked hard to be ready and are confident there will be no major business disruptions at credit unions as we enter the new millennium,” he says.

Like other financial institutions, most credit unions will be closed January 1, 2 and 3 for the long weekend. However, automated teller machines, Interac Direct Payment, PC and tele-banking services will be available.

Knight says credit unions have tested debit and ATM systems and have made sure that key suppliers, including telecommunications providers, power companies as well as hardware and software suppliers, are ready too.
