(December 19 – 10:30 ET) – Clarica has appointed David Williamson, as executive vice president and chief financial officer effective Jan. 29, 2001.

In addition to his CFO responsibilities that include financial reporting, capital and risk management, corporate taxation, legal services, investor relations and corporate communications, Williamson will lead Clarica’s strategic planning process in the areas of business development and mergers and acquisitions.

Williamson is currently President and CEO of Derlan Industries Ltd., a Toronto-based industrial manufacturer. Since rejoining Derlan in 1997 as CFO, Williamson has taken on increased responsibilities, becoming President and COO in November 1998 and President and CEO in June 2000.

Previously, he was with Price Waterhouse Consultants based in Toronto, London, England and Basle, Switzerland, providing advice to financial institutions and large corporations on the management of financial risk.

Williamson, 40, has a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University. He succeeds Karen Maidment, who was recently named CFO of the Bank of Montreal.
