Mississauga, Ont-based Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired all outstanding shares and controlling interest in Toronto-based Canadian Hedge Watch Inc. (CHW).

CHW, which also operates as Radius Financial Education, provides a wide range of conferences in the areas of alternative investment products, ETFs and pensions. In addition, CHW provides data services and education courses to its clients.

CIFP provides educational courses and training for financial planners to obtain the certified financial planner designation and the organization’s own designation, the registered retirement consultant, which focuses on the retirement, lifestyle, and intergenerational wealth transfer planning needs of Canadians.

CIFP provides services to the practitioner, corporate and academic markets. CIFP also provides information technology consulting services through its subsidiary 724learning.net.

CHW will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of CIFP. Keith Costello, president and CEO of CIFP, also will serve as president and CEO of CHW.

“CHW and CIFP have excellent synergies allowing both organizations to extend their presence in new market segments both in Canada and global markets,” said Costello in a statement.
