Staff from CIBC World Markets and CIBC Wood Gundy Inc. branches across the country will donate their fees and commissions from Dec. 3 to benefit children’s charities in a event that has become one of the largest single-day fundraisers for children’s charities in Canada.

CIBC said last year’s CIBC World Markets Children’s Miracle Day raised $2.9 million in Canada alone. Money raised helps support more than 350 children’s charities across the country dedicated to improving the health, education and well-being of children at risk or in need.

“Thousands of children in communities across the country rely on the services of the more than 350 charities that we support through Miracle Day,” said Susan Storey, chairwoman of the Miracle Foundation and managing director of CIBC World Markets. “Miracle Day represents an extraordinary effort on behalf of our clients and staff to help children in need. Together we’re making a significant difference in children’s lives.”

Among the children’s charities supported are the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, Horizons for Youth in Toronto, the Vancouver Oral Centre for Deaf Children, Manitoba Children’s Museum, Learning Associates of Montreal – Child & Youth Programs, and the Progressive Centre for Early Intervention in Nova Scotia.

Through Children’s Miracle Day, CIBC World Markets has donated more than $110 million to children’s charities in Canada and around the world since its inception in 1984.
