CIBC will be expanding Sunday banking hours to additional locations across the country over the next year.

With the addition of 33 new Sunday hours branches, CIBC will be open on Sundays at 45 branches across the country.

“The response from clients to Sunday hours in our branches has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Sonia Baxendale, CIBC senior executive vp, retail markets at today’s CIBC Investor Day Forum in Toronto.

“Sunday has become the new Saturday and our clients tell us they appreciate being able to bank according to their schedules, so offering Sunday banking hours at 45 branches will give them even more flexibility and choice in how they bank with us.”

Beginning this fall, select urban locations will open their doors on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The exact locations of these additional branches will be announced later.

CIBC says branches will be selected based on their location relative to busy urban shopping areas.

Currently the bank offers Sunday branch banking hours at six branches in the Vancouver Lower Mainland, and six branches in the Greater Toronto Area.
