(February 12 – 15:30 ET) – The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada has agreed to offer CGA-Canada’s foundation-level professional accounting education courses as part of a diploma program at the China Women’s College, located in Beijing, China.

At a signing ceremony held today as part of the Team Canada Mission to China, CGA-Canada chairman and CEO Bruce Hryciuk said that the agreement would open the way for more women to enter the accounting profession over the next decade.

“CGA-Canada’s professional accounting education program will help China to build and develop the human infrastructure that is fundamental to all other trade and commerce and will open many new doors for women in China,” said Hryciuk.

CGA-Canada has been helping China to build and modernize its accounting infrastructure since 1993. The association’s CD-ROM and Internet technology- based Program of Professional Studies is already being delivered at six partner universities in China, including at institutions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin and Changchun.

The agreement with the China Women’s College is expected to contribute further to CGA-Canada’s international membership base in the years to come. That base already includes 1,800 Certified General Accountants and students in China (including Hong Kong SAR) and totals more than 60,000 professional members and students worldwide.
