Toronto-based Cantor Fitzgerald Canada Corp., part of the leading global financial services firm, Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P., Tuesday announced the expansion of its equity research analyst team with the appointment of Ralph Garcea as managing director and senior technology analyst.
In addition, Jonathan Samahin and Steven Duenkler join as institutional equity sales traders. All three men, who previously served with Global Maxfin Capital Inc., will be based in Toronto and will report to Laurence Rose, president and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald Canada.
Garcea previously served as managing director and head of equity research at Global Maxfin. He has also held senior positions at Haywood Securities, Credit Suisse First Boston, and Scotia Capital. Garcea holds a B.S. in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto and an M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
Previously, Samahin served as equity sales trader and vice president of Global Maxfin. Earlier, he held senior positions at Byron Capital Markets, Research Capital Corp., and Fraser Mackenzie Ltd. Samahin holds a B.A. in Economics, with a Minor in Mathematics, from Queens University.
Duenkler most recently served as managing director and head of equity trading at Global Maxfin. Prior to this, he served as senior portfolio manager at Sprott Asset Management and was the founder and managing partner of Flatiron Capital Management Partners. Additionally, he has held senior positions at National Bank, Scotia Capital, and Burns Fry Ltd. Duenkler holds a B.S. in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto.
