(September 26 – 11:30 ET) – Canada Life Financial Corp. began trading this morning on the New York Stock Exchange. David Nield, chairman, president and CEO of Canada Life, rang the opening bell to celebrate the listing.

“Joining the New York Stock Exchange marks an important milestone for Canada Life as a public company,” said Nield. “This listing opens the door for us to the largest equity pool in the world, a powerful reason to list here for any company that is serious about its business and about maximizing shareholder value.”

Along with broader exposure to U.S. institutional investors, Canada Life expects to benefit from its listing on the NYSE by using Canada Life shares as currency in potential growth opportunities. Canada Life listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange on November 4, 1999.
