(May 26 – 14:10 ET) – The C.D. Howe Institute has appointed David Laidler, one of Canada’s leading experts in monetary policy, to the newly created position of Canadian Bankers Association scholar.
As CBA scholar, Laidler will examine monetary and fiscal policy. The new position was made possible through the support of the CBA.

Laidler is Professor of Economics at the University of Western Ontario and a Fellow-in-Residence of the C.D. Howe Institute. He was educated at the London School of Economics, the University of Syracuse, and the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Western in 1975, he held full-time academic appointments at the London School of Economics, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Essex, and the University of Manchester.
He is the author of numerous essays and books in the areas of monetary economics and the history of economic thought.
