(January 24 – 12:00 ET) – BMO Nesbitt Burns has appointed Brent Fullard as executive managing director and head of Equity Capital Markets. Fullard will head an experienced team of nine professionals responsible for origination and execution of the firm’s equity financing activities.

“Brent Fullard brings a wealth of experience to the table,” said Tom Milroy, executive managing director, Investment and Corporate Banking. “His thorough understanding of origination and execution makes him a natural leader in this pivotal role.”

Fullard joined BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1992, following eight years of industry experience with First Marathon Securities Ltd. and Merrill Lynch Canada Inc., where he was a senior vice president and director and head of Syndication.

While at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Fullard has been responsible for structuring and co-ordinating the successful execution of a large number of public equity offerings, including Canada’s first billion dollar deal — the 1993 secondary offering of MacMillan Bloedel Limited — as well as eight of Canada’s largest initial public offerings.

Fullard has also played a significant role in numerous transactions that have received awards, including Investment Dealers’ Digest’s “Top Ten Deals on Wall Street” in 1990, EuroMoney’s “International Deal of the Year” in 1997, and citations from the Financial Post’s “Top Ten Deals of the Year.” Fullard holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a B.Sc. from the University of Toronto.

BMO Nesbitt Burns also announced the appointment of David Thomas as a vice president with the Equity Capital Markets team. Thomas has been with BMO Nesbitt Burns since 1986, most recently with the Power and Utilities group.
