(November 16 – 10:30 ET) – BLC Securities, the brokerage subsidiary of Laurentian Bank of Canada, has changed its name to Laurentian Bank Securities Inc.

“The new name emphasizes the strong ties between Laurentian Bank and its brokerage subsidiary,” said Henri-Paul Rousseau, president and CEO of Laurentian Bank of Canada. “It also enhances the bank’s presence in the financial products and services marketplace.”

The board of directors of Laurentian Bank Securities Inc. have approved the appointment of Charles Murphy as the subsidiary’s president and CEO, replacing Bernard Piché, who becomes chairman of the board. Murphy will oversee operations and report directly to Piché.

In addition to his new duties as chairman of Laurentian Bank Securities Inc., Piché is co-chief operating officer of B2B Trust, Laurentian Bank’s Toronto-based Internet subsidiary, and has assumed responsibility for that company’s financial operations.
