The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is sounding the alarm over a number of high-pressure sales calls directed at seniors in the province.

The regulator reported on Monday that several “vulnerable seniors” have received unsolicited daily calls asking them to invest in CannaOne Technologies Inc., a B.C.-based technology company.

The caller, who has a 646 (New York) area code, instructs the seniors to buy a specific number of shares at a specified price, and not sell them until they receive a follow-up call instructing them to do so, according to a release from the BCSC.

The BCSC said it is working with CannaOne to find out who is responsible for the calls.
