Bear Stearns Cos. Inc bank and brokerage analyst Amy Butte is leaving the firm for Credit Suisse First Boston, according to a report from Reuters.

Butte covers Canadian banks, along with her work on the U.S. industry. Reuters says that she’ll take the post of chief strategist and head of finance for CSFB’s financial services unit. The unit is now run by Jeffrey Peek, formerly head of asset management at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. Butte has also worked at Merrill earlier in her career, and will now report to Peek.

Here at home, former Merrill Lynch Canada non-bank financials analyst Cameron Webster has turned up at boutique shop Harris Partners in Toronto. Webster, who was a casualty of Merrill’s fall cost cutting, will be picking up coverage of non-banks for Harris.
