(February 24 – 15:15 ET) – Bank of Montreal has received the Institutional Shareholder Services 1999 International Best Practices Award for corporate governance.

The award was accepted today in Washington, D.C. by Bank of Montreal’s lead-director Blair MacAulay. Bank of Montreal was the only Canadian company to receive an award.

Institutional Shareholder Services, based in Rockville, Maryland, has recognized eight out of more than 5,000 corporations from around the world for their achievements in the field of corporate governance.

Bank of Montreal initiated a comprehensive restructuring of its corporate governance program with the release in 1991 of the study Shaping the Board of Directors for the Future.
