The Bank of Canada today extended the deadline for comments on its debt strategy consultation until the end of November.
The central bank’s debt strategy consultation paper was issued in mid-October, with a deadline of November 15. How, the bank says that the deadline for comments on the documents has been extended from to November 30.
The consultation documents were prepared jointly by the Department of Finance and the Bank of Canada on behalf of the federal government. The Debt Strategy Consultation looks at the design and operation of federal domestic debt programs for fiscal year 2005/06 and beyond. It seeks the views of market participants on the strategic direction of the domestic debt programs in light of evolving borrowing requirements and market trends, and on specific operational issues.
The Review of the Government of Canada Debt Distribution Framework document relates to the design of the framework for distributing the government’s debt securities. The government is reviewing its framework for distributing debt as part of a regular review of debt management policies and programs.
