Alberta Treasury Branches today announced the appointment of Robert (Bob) Normand to the position of president and CEO effective November 1.

“Bob Normand has extensive experience in the banking industry and has played a key leadership role in the success of ATB for the past four years,” said Ron Triffo, chairman of the board of directors of ATB.

“The board is confident in Mr. Normand’s experience and abilities to lead the organization into the future. We are particularly pleased to make this appointment from within, as it truly reflects the depth of management that exists at ATB.”

“I look forward to leading ATB during these changing times in the financial services industry,” said Bob. “I initially joined ATB because of its potential and growth prospects. In the near term, I will focus on achieving the objectives outlined in the three-year business plan and continue to work with the Executive team and my associates in achieving ATB’s vision as Albertan’s first choice for financial services.”

Normand joined ATB in June 1997. As the executive vice president, Sales, he was responsible for the overall sales and distribution network of ATB branches and agencies, and management of all branch and service delivery employees.

He has over 25 years of banking management experience with the Bank of Montreal in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta, and was the vice president, Edmonton Region prior to joining ATB.

Normand holds both a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Masters in Business Administration, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. He is a director of ATB Investment Services Inc. and the Fort Edmonton Historical Foundation.
