Assante Corporation has signed an agreement with Capital G Investments Ltd., of Bermuda. The deal should significantly enhance offshore services to international clients, says Assante.

Capital G operates a bank, a trust company and an investment management division in Bermuda. It’s current Chairman, Sir David Gibbons, is the former Premier of Bermuda.

Under the arrangement, Capital G has agreed to acquire Assante’s Bermuda-based investment management division and to establish a long-term strategic alliance between the two companies. Capital G will maintain current client accounts, while Assante will continue as the portfolio manager of Assante Asset Management (Bermuda) Ltd.’s funds The deal is expected to close May 17, 2002, pending regulatory and other approvals.

Assante Asset Management (Bermuda) Ltd. provides Assante clients with international estate and tax planning, with an emphasis on wealth preservation; succession planning; assistance in the establishment and management of offshore trusts and companies; and asset management for offshore individuals, corporations and trusts.
