Amex Bank of Canada today announced a distribution deal with TD Bank Financial Group to offer American Express Commercial Cards and other expense management services to some commercial and corporate banking clients of TD.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The agreement means that American Express will become the exclusive provider of expense management solutions to large TD commercial and corporate card clients. TD will move these accounts to American Express during the next six months.

“Today’s news marks a significant step forward in our growth strategy,” said Herve Sedky, vice president of Amex’s Corporate Services Division.

TD commercial and corporate clients will be able to choose a range of products — from standard payment cards to increasingly sophisticated expense management systems providing data management, expense control, account administration, billing systems and purchasing processes.

“Our strategy is to build long-term relationships with our clients by offering the best advice, service and products available. Where it makes sense, we will work with companies — like Amex — which have established a strong reputation as specialists in their field,” said Tim Bradshaw, vice president, TD Commercial Banking.

Under the agreement, TD will promote American Express corporate products and services through all TD commercial and corporate banking centres across Canada. American Express will manage card accounts and provide customer service support.
