(April 6 – 10:00 ET) – Eight chartered accountant groups from around the world have formed a global task force to look into creating a new international business professional designation.
The group is comprised of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and similar groups from the U.S., Australia, England and Wales, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland and South Africa. They are initiating talks with other professional groups and other accountancy institutes around the world to attract support.
Robin Hamilton Harding, FCA and former CFO of Bell Canada, has been appointed as chief operating officer of the task force. “International market research indicates a demand for multi-disciplinary business advisors who offer far more than the services based on the competencies of a single profession. The aim of the Task Force is to create a globally recognized designation that would enable professionals to seize the opportunities presented by an increasingly globalized economy,” he says.
Guylaine Saucier, FCA and chair of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, says,”The new designation would provide its holders with international recognition and credibility as business professionals operating in the global marketplace. I am delighted that the CICA is a member of this new Task Force.”
