The chairman of B.C.’s public auto insurer, the Insurance Corporation of B.C. (ICBC), has stepped down from his post just a couple of months into a new term.

The ICBC, which is a provincial Crown corporation that provides universal auto insurance, and driver licensing, vehicle registration and licensing, announced that its chair, Paul Taylor, has been replaced by interim chairman, Jatinder Rai, effective immediately. No reason for the move was given.

Taylor was appointed chairman in July 2012. In November 2013, it was announced that his term as chairman of the board had been extended until January 17, 2017. At the same time, the organization’s board appointed Mark Blucher as president and CEO; he’d been interim president and CEO since October 2012.

Rai, who is the founder, president and CEO of marketing firm, Response Advertising Inc., has been on the board since 2008.
