(December 13 – 10:20 ET) – Hi-Alta Capital Inc. is buying the independent insurance firm Wilson, Krochak & Broadbent Agencies Ltd. in Brooks, Alberta.

While the firm’s existing management will continue to be involved in the business, the Wilson, Krochak & Broadbent Agencies will eventually be merged with the Newell Agencies to create the largest insurance business in the Brooks area, under the umbrella of Hi-Alta’s Western Insurance Network. The WIN serves 25 communities in the three western provinces.

The deal is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2000, no price was disclosed. Last week Hi-Alta Capital announced that it plans to expand its business into the financial services sector.
